vivo and OPPO occupy the top two positions in this ranking with a market share of 24% and 20% respectively.
The Chinese smartphone market has experienced some changes over the last few years, especially as a result of the decline of Huawei, a brand that, until not long ago, was the market leader, but now It is not even among the top five mobile manufacturers in the Asian country.
After a fairly bad second quarter of 2021 for all manufacturers, the worst in the last 9 years, a recent Counterpoint Research report for the month of July, which the guys from Gizmochina echo reveals that there is two brands that control half of the Chinese mobile market and, curiously, they are neither Xiaomi nor Apple.
Two manufacturers of the BBK Electronics group control half of the Chinese smartphone market: vivo and OPPO
As you can see in the graph that we leave below these lines and that has been prepared by the Counterpoint Research researchers, alive ranks first in the Chinese mobile market with a market share of 24%, which represents an increase of 1% compared to the previous quarter.
The second position of the podium is for OPPO with a market share of 20% and third place goes to the giant Xiaomi with a market share of 15%.
Another of the great surprises is found in a fourth place in which the former Huawei subsidiary, Honor, is located. thus surpassing Apple itself with a market share of 13%, an even more meritorious figure if we take into account that this manufacturer was not in the top five at the end of the second quarter of this year.
In this way, the Cupertino-based company falls to fifth place with a market share of 12% and Huawei ranks sixth with a market share of 8%.
This same report also reveals that Apple and Huawei lead the category of high-end smartphones, both those that have a price above $ 900 like those who are located between 600 and 800 dollars.
For their part, the two manufacturers that control half of the Chinese market for mobile terminals, vivo and OPPO, lead two other categories: that of mobile phones that have a price that is situated between 300 and 600 dollars and that of smartphones that are priced at between 200 and 300 dollars.
The category of phones that cost less than $ 400 is led by OPPO, but closely followed by Honor and, finally, the category of terminals under $ 100 it is dominated, once again, by Xiaomi.
